USAID Uganda Health Activity
Chemonics International Inc., a leading international development firm that has been implementing USAID programs in Uganda for more than 20 years, seeks multiple technical advisors for the anticipated five-year approximately $170 million USAID-funded Uganda Health Activity (UHA). This cooperative agreement aims to increase the survival and well-being of vulnerable populations and improve overall health system resilience in priority districts in Uganda through: (1) improved access to and use of quality maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH); family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH); nutrition; and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) health services at community- and health facility-levels; (2) enhanced local ownership and leadership for sustainable health outcomes; and, (3) strengthened health systems at the regional-, district-, facility-, and community-levels. The technical advisors will be responsible for technical oversight of integrated health service delivery and technical assistance activities for MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and WASH at facility- and community-levels. English fluency is required. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people globally.
We are seeking technical specialists in the following areas, for consideration:
· Maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH)
· Family planning (FP)/reproductive health (RH)
· Nutrition
· Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH)
· Health financing
· Human resources for health (HRH)
· Supply chain
· Health information systems
· HIV service delivery
· Adaptive management
· Health policy and stewardship
· Quality improvement
· Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
· GESI / Youth and vulnerable groups
Qualifications:
· Demonstrated capability in one or more of the above technical areas
· Demonstrated analytical ability and understanding of the cultural and local and regional health context in Uganda
· At least six years of experience in managing and/or implementing integrated health service delivery or technical assistance programming addressing MNCH, FP/RH, nutrition, and WASH in a similar context, with at least three of those years working in Uganda
· Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with a broad range of public and private sector counterparts, donors, and other key stakeholders
· Excellent interpersonal, writing, and English language oral presentation skills
· Master’s degree or other advanced degree (PhD, MD) in a relevant field, such as medicine, public health, or social sciences; clinical qualification (MD, clinical officer, nurse, midwife, or other cadres) preferred
· Previous experience working on USG-funded health programming in Uganda, designing or implementing gender- or youth-sensitive health programming, and strengthening quality of care and/or QI for MNCH, FP, nutrition, or WASH preferred
